Stuck by Rick White, President 180BIZ  (Estimated Read Time 2 minutes 49 seconds)

In this episode, I want to talk about getting stuck. I don't know about you, but there have been times when I feel like I'm stuck, like I'm spinning my wheels and just not going anywhere. While thinking about it I realized that there are four things that cause you to feel stuck. So what I'd like to do is go through each one of those four things.

First. We get stuck because we don't have a destination. When you don't know where you're going, any place will do. That's really what you're doing. If you don't have a destination or a goal set for yourself, you're in trouble because you don't know where you're going and you're just spinning your wheels. You're just going through the motions. It's SSDD, same stuff, different day. You get lost in the monotony of it. And it makes you feel stuck. Honestly, it sucks the life out of you.

Next, when you're going down a path and realize you're going down the wrong path. That will cause you to get stuck, for sure.

The third reason you may feel stuck is lack of focus. If you have a destination, but you don't have the focus, if you don't have a way of putting where you want to go in front of you every single day, then you won’t be effective. You will continually start, stop, start, stop, start, stop. And that's not fun. And it's tiring. It's exhausting for you and frustrating for your team. Stop that. Get a focus. Come up with a routine in the morning and maybe a couple of times during the day where you check in and make sure your focus is on the right thing.

Now, you don't do that in the morning. As you set the intention for the day, you get up a little early and go through some kind of routine to get yourself set up. Then show up the right way and make sure you set the intention up of how you want to go.

But here's the fourth reason you may feel stuck. It’s having the wrong focus. What do I mean by that? It's when you are easily distracted. There are so many people that think when their shop's not getting financial success or they’re not hitting their targets, they automatically think they need more cars. And that's the wrong focus. The right focus is not activity. The best focus for you is opportunity. What are you doing with the vehicles you have now? Because if you're not letting your clients know what's going on with the vehicle and what work needs to be done to keep it in shape so your client can reach their goals, then this will be a problem.

So how do you get unstuck?

  • Have a destination that makes sense.
  • Stay focused. Stay focused on that destination. One of the best ways that I have found is when you can go in and start your day with intention, and then maybe at 10, 12, 2, and 4, you just do a quick check. Am I doing what I should be doing? And you will get that stuck feeling less frequently. I think that's amazing.

Just a quick recap. Why are you stuck?

  1. No destination
  2. Wrong destination.
  3. No focus
  4. Wrong focus.

Fix these and you will find yourself moving faster and having more fun doing it.

God bless. Stay safe, have fun, and go make some money.
