Auto Repair Shop Owner's Daily Dose 60: What's Your Goal for 2020?

What's Your Goal for 2020? by Rick White, President 180BIZ

I'm going to ask you another question. I honestly believe that if you want a better life, you've got to ask yourself better questions. So here's my question for you now. What's your goal for 2020? You had goals, at least I hope you did, on January 1st. Then suddenly this pandemic starts up. Things changed overnight. That happens and it's okay. But what I've seen people doing because of the uncertainty is they stopped pursuing their goals.

Why does that happen? Because you never had control of your life. You never had control of your circumstances. What you did have was control over your routines. You have control over your actions, your reactions, your attitude, your mindset, your focus, your expectations. Those are the things you had control over. We all get up in the morning, have our cup of tea or coffee, drive to work, etc.  We do that each day, every day.  We are in control.

Now, there’s a stay at home order.  It messed up our routine. But let's step back. You have had calamities befall you in the past. You've had a loved one pass away or there was a sudden freak weather storm like a tornado or there were wildfires or something like that. These things happened throughout your life.  You didn’t expect them, you didn’t plan for them, and they kind of throw you off-kilter. These are just somethings thing to show you that you aren't in control of your life as far as what happens outside of your body. You are, however, 100% in control of your actions and reactions.

Because of the uncertainty that this virus has brought about, people have stopped planning.  They stopped setting goals. They stopped striving to achieve their goals. It's because of the uncertainty. Understand that it's your actions that create the certainty you're looking for. It's the actions you take today that create the certainty you're looking for tomorrow. So, get back to your goals.

June is right around the corner. We're almost halfway through the roaring twenties year. I know that no one expected this to happen. No one thought the impact was going to be as big as it has been. It doesn't make a difference. The new reality is that you need a goal for yourself. You need a goal for your business. You need to gain control again. How do you do that? Start with your routines. Get then in place and then pick something that excites you.

We, here at 180BIZ, have some strong goals for this year. I'm going to write a book. That's the next thing that really scares me. But that's one of the things we want to do to get our message out there; to help people grow their business. So, stop using this virus as an excuse for where you are today and what you need to do. Instead, create a goal and start pushing towards it. Take action today towards that goal you want to achieve tomorrow.

What is your goal? It's time to get back on the horse, my friends, and let's get rocking. Have a great day. Go make a difference. Be the difference in your community.

Go make some money.  Take care. God bless.
