Are You an Auto Repair Shop Owner Who Waits for Perfection?

Perfection by Rick White, President 180BIZ

My Just One Thing for this week is all about perfection. You have this mindset or expectation or standard that you have set for yourself in your business, where it should be a certain way. And I want you to underline that word in your mind “should.” Anytime you're using the word “should” there's going to be pain. You're comparing where you're at to where you think it ought to be. And it's not there. I want you to understand that is perfection. Perfection is an illusion created by the devil to rob men and women of their dreams. Why? Because we set such a high standard that we know, intellectually, that it's impossible to hit.

But we still set it there for ourselves. We still set it for our business. So, in the beginning, we really strive and push for that perfection. But then we get disappointed, disillusioned, and discouraged because we're not where we should be. I am saying this right now. Stop with the perfection. Throw perfection out.  Go for your best. Perfection is killing you. It's killing your business. It's killing your energy. Stop being unfair to yourself. Let’s be real. You're going to fall. You're going to trip a few times. Even if you've been doing it great for 10 years, you're going to fall.

Success is not built on perfection.  Success is built on how fast you get up when you do fall. Success is all about how quickly you can get up. Brush yourself off. Reaffirm, revalidate, who you are and what you're capable of. Push toward a more empowering future, a brighter future. Something that means something to you. That is where success comes from. Success is about doing something more often than you did it before. Success is about falling less. There is no such thing as perfection. All I ever want is your best.

That's all you should ever want from yourself, from your team, from your business, from your customers. We are all human beings. We all have weaknesses. I believe we all have addictions. We all have these blocks in our lives. And if you stare at perfection, those blocks become stumbling blocks. But if you're looking to do your best and going toward something that just lights you up, those blocks become stepping-stones. Think this through. What area of your life have you been looking for perfection and disgusted with yourself where maybe you even hate yourself a little bit for not achieving it? You feel weak, you feel inferior. You feel like you're not enough. I'm here to tell you that you are absolutely perfectly where you should be. I'm here to tell you that you are enough.

You're being unfair. So today I just want to see your best. Do your best, commit to your best, have a compelling future, and do your absolute best to move toward it? And if you don't get quite where you thought you could today, then that's why God gave you tomorrow. So, you can go a little bit further each day. Success is not created with huge events or huge milestones. It's that daily persistence. So, what are you going to do that’s your best? My best is going to be staying focused on being the absolute best version of myself today. It's going to be all about being happy with where I am and still hungry for where I want to go. Just kick perfection to the curb, just do your best and then do better tomorrow because that's the beautiful thing about best every day. It gets a little bit better.

God bless and go make some money!
