Anywhere Motors will be the premier automotive maintenance and repair facility in the Anywhere USA area by providing a level of customer service that far surpasses current levels of service given elsewhere. The focus of our business will be continuously identifying the needs and issues of the customer and coming up with ways to make doing business with us easier and FUN! Doing this will allow us to charge an amount that will allow us to offer services that other shops can’t while still be of value to the consumer.
We will also focus on our internal customers, letting them know that they are an important part of the business. We will help them grow both professionally and personally introducing education to help them achieve their goals. We will foster a team atmosphere and will inject fun and challenges to keep the staff motivated.
We will generate sales of $1,200,000.00 this year with an average invoice of $550.00 on an annual car count of 2,182 vehicles serviced. We will do this with 3 technicians, one advisor/manager and an office assistant that will assist with the service writing as well as daily bookkeeping activities. We will generate a 62% gross profit of sales and keep expenses to 45% of sales. This will net the operation 17% before taxes.
Next year we will generate sales of $1,500,000.00 with an average invoice of $575.00 on an annual car count of 2,609 vehicles serviced. We will do this with 4 technicians, one advisor/manager and assistant manager and a part time office assistant that will act as a receptionist and perform daily bookkeeping activities. We will generate a 63% gross profit of sales and keep expenses to 40% of sales. This will net the operation 24% before taxes.
The third year we will generate sales of $1,800,000.00 with an average invoice of $600.00 on an annual car count of 3,000 vehicles serviced. We will do this with 4 technicians, one advisor/manager and assistant manager and a part time office assistant that will act as a receptionist and perform daily bookkeeping activities. We will generate a 64% gross profit of sales and keep expenses to 36% of sales. This will net the operation 28% before taxes.
This business- however it appears, is a reflection of the people that are a part of it. This includes not only the key players- myself, my spouse, our employees, the Team as such; but also, the customers we service, the vendors we purchase from, the sublet providers we hire and many others we interact with.

Starting with the staff, we need two journeymen level ASE certified Technicians. Family oriented with excellent driving records, they have a clean, neat appearance. Both can be counted on for punctuality, respect for others, honesty, and a thirst for innovation and change. Their tools are clean and adequate. They have personal ambitions and hobbies. They appreciate an employer that they feel connected to. Their appreciation for being treated with respect and dignity is reflected in their work ethic. They know that individually and as a team- they bring a lot to the table. Both techs have a willingness to apply their skills to whatever is in front of them. They can both laugh at the primadonna attitudes they've experienced in some other Techs. Their production is consistent. They can bill 10-12 hours daily, seemingly without breaking a sweat. Each morning they appear fresh and focused. They have mutually decided on a compensation plan that while tracking production individually, allows them to both share in the sum of their labors. They know that snags and breakdowns will be discussed twice monthly to hone irregularities and boost overall production. The 100+ hours they generate each week provides ample cash to offer a good compensation package and gives them a genuine sense of the kind of pride that comes from being the best you can be.
In addition to the journeymen techs, the shop employs a helper/apprentice whose duties are to keep the shop clean and support the techs when needed. Their job description is outlined to be a path to becoming a tech within 5 years if supplemented with trade school. Other duties will be staging work, State Inspections, light maintenance including oil changes, tire maintenance, customer shuttle, and supervised vehicle inspection. Compensation will be around $10.00/hr. It is expected that the cash generated from the light duty labor they generate should more than fund their earnings.
